Following
in the glorious footsteps of the luxury catalogs commissioned from
the foremost artists of the era by the leading couture houses, "La
Dernière Lettre Persane" features 12 designs from Fourrures
Max, as interpreted by one of the great illustrators of the period,
Eduardo Benito.
Interestingly, it is designed to look like an illustrated edition
of Montesquieu's XVIIIth century literary masterpiece, "Les
Lettres Persanes". The designs are lavishly printed in gold
leaf and highlighted with pochoir coloring, while the black
and embossed detailing is achieved by woodblock. Undoubtedly, this
is one of Benito's masterpieces.
