In creating "La Gazette du Bon Ton", publisher Lucien Vogel's main
objective was to approach artists from oustide the world of couture
to produce a fashion periodical of the highest quality, catering
to the pre-war Parisian elite. Featuring essays, theater reviews,
gossip colums and more, and illustrated with refined taste by only
the premier artists of the period, "La Gazette" set the standard
for the numerous periodicals that were to follow in its glorious
footsteps.
This is the complete run of "La Gazette du Bon Ton", a total of
seventy issues in sixty-nine fascicles. The artists whose illustrations
are featured include: Dufy, Brissaud, Siméon, Charles Martin, Drian,
Benito, G. Lepape, Bonfils, Boutet de Monvel, Francis Jourdain,
Van Brock, G. Barbier, A. Marty, R. Dammy, M. Taquoy, Brunelleschi,
Bakst, Guy Arnoux. In addition to the 556 numbered plates, there
are 148 croquis, and the last fascicle of the second year, "Ete
1915", has six further illustrations by Drian.
