Loose as issued contained within folded paper folio cover printed
with title in blue and gold; housed in cream colored vellum slipcase
stamped on front cover with the words "Gala/Dali" inside
a circle topped with a crown and with gold lettering (Salvador/Dali
Tristan et Iseult) on spine; contained in undyed linen chemise for
protection.
This legendary tale, reworded for this edition by André Mary,
is illustrated by Salvador Dali in twenty-one original color drypoint
etchings, each representing one of the main episodes of the 12th
century story by Thomas and Béroul. The images were engraved
on copper, using ruby and diamond. While the frontispiece is fuly
signed, the twenty prints are all initaled by Dali, in pencil, in
the lower left corner; the prints, moreover, are mongrammed in the
lower right corner with the initials of the publisher (OGC).
Printed on Arches vellum, this copy is in excellent condition: plates
very clean, colors fresh and bright.
Three other foreign language editions were also printed (German,
Italian and English).
