Salvador Dali
Moïse et Monothéisme

Salvador Dali - Moses et Monotheisme - 1974.
Salvador Dali
Sigmund Freud (Author)
"Moïse et Monothéisme"
Paris: Editions Art et Valeur SA., 1974.

(27 1/4 " x 22 1/2") 62pp. 10 illustrations. (10 hors text. )
General condition: Fine. Exterior: Fine. Interior: Clean.
ex. no.: 56/250.
Plates and text each housed separately within plexiglas chemises with red suede spines (text within additional paper folio cover printed with title design by Dali on front); both housed in large case covered in red suede with title information on spine. The front cover of the case is covered with a silver-plated bas-relief after Michaelangelo's "Moses", executed according to a wax model sculpted by Dali. The case is in fine condition; small tears to top and bottom of spine of paper folio containing the text, with some usual but minor soiling.

For this book of monumental proportions, Dali has provided illustrations inspired by Freud's last published text on religion. The ten original hors-texte color lithographies, executed after original watercolors, are printed on soft glove sheepskin and housed separately from the text, in a plexiglas and suede protective chemise. All ten are signed and numbered by the artist in the lower right-hand corner.

In addition, the text section also features original engravings by the artist, namely a title design found on the front cover, a frontispiece and numerous initial letters. These are black and white original woodcut engravings.

Printed (for the text) on "Fantin-Latour" vellum paper, watermarked with publishers name; signed on the justification page. Overall in very good condition, with some light yellowing to the extreme edges of the text pages and endpapers; lithographs immaculate. Re: Michler & Löpsinger #723-732; Field #75-2 (p. 100).
