One of the great things about working in a rare art book and fine art gallery is that I get to do tons of research on the artists, styles and time periods we deal in. Right now, I am in the process of researching Georges Lepape and Paul Iribe's influence on modern fashion illustration and stumbled upon a great blog post found at The Art of Dress. In this post, Cassidy Zachary tells us more about the birth of modern fashion photography and how Lepape and Iribe were a major source of inspiration to Edward Steichen--the photographer who is considered to be the father of modern fashion photography.
If you know of any other facts pertaining to Iribe, Lepape, Steichen or fashion history in general, please leave a comment! We'd love to hear from you. And remember....
We currently have in our inventory, many fashion illustrative books including Lepape's Les Choses and Iribe's Les Robes. If you are interested to learn more about our current offerings, drop us a line or come and visit us!
