Georges
Valmier (1885 - 1937)
|
Born
and educated in France, Georges Valmier was a pioneer of the Cubist Movement.
As early as 1911, he adapted his Cubist designs for practical application
as futuristic decoration for Marinetti.
In 1932 he worked with the Abstract Creationists. His paintings were scrupulously
planned both in the composition and in the extremely subtle color schemes.
Valmier was a very fine amateur musician, a theme which is often reflected
in his work. His portfolio of decorative graphics "Collection decors
et Couleurs Album No 1," 1929, reflects his painterly approach to
ornamental design.
